Zombie apocalypse assets
A downloadable game
this is an asset pack showcasing all of the assets I've made for my game theme "Zombie Apocalypse". in this pack you will find the building assets and weapons. the assets I've made in blender but to show case them I used unity.
in each picture I've shown how you can use these assets for inspiration.
I have done a city, underground subway, campsite and an arcade and at the very top you will find a trailer showcasing my assets on my YouTube.
For each of these assets I've made for a potential game based for a zombie game though they can all just be used for different themes. like the weapons or the just wanting to use the city or campsite assets.
when it came to developing my assets I used a bunch of different references which I had collected for my research. I used these references to give me inspiration for my assets. I really liked the idea of the buildings being overgrown to show that the zombie apocalypse has been happening for quite some time so I did the same for my assets, I made them look overgrown with plants / vines. For the weapons I used one reference so I could make a really nice mini gun and some other nice weapons, I also used these reference so I could keep in mind that my assets needed to stick with the theme and art style. for the reference images I took the overgrown look an applied that look to my assets to make them look even better. for the weapons I looked at the reference and made a start on my weapons, I first started with my mini gun and made it look similar to this one in the reference same for the other weapons but I just changed a few things to make them different like with the colour being green for the grenade launcher.
For my assets I knew what I wanted from the very beginning of this project and I never changed my mind or doubted that I was doing something wrong. when it came to making my assets in blender I knew how I wanted my assets to look and stuck with it. for my city assets I knew what I wanted my buildings to look like but I didn't know what I wanted to plant life to look like, so I just made 3 different plants and started planting them around till I got something I liked. this was the same process for the train station / subway assets. I just went with what I knew and what my heart was set on and got to making them though I had some difficulties with making the train but I kept messing with it and got a shape I liked with some nice colours. For the weapons I started out with a simple block and kept adding different shapes so u could get the nice shape for the mini gun, when I had all of the shapes to my liking I merged them together so I could get the textures and smaller details. originally I had my arcade machines to just be all black but I had some feedback to make them all different colours to show that they were different games so that's what I did, I changed the arcade machine colours and it looks so much better. for a few of my assets I ended up changing bits and pieces because I didn't like how they turned out so I ended up scrapping them and starting again and ended up with my end result and I'm so glad I changed a few designs because ow they look even better. for the other melee weapons I didn't really use a reference I just went on the top of my head and just changed the shape a few times to get a few different weapons.
for the final product I did end up making changes to some of the assets to make them have more detail to make them better and to give them more detail for my showcases. in each showcase you can see each asset being used and each one looks like they belong which I'm proud of. the showcase I'm the most proud of is my campsite, its just so stunning to look at and actually looks like a level for a zombie game, though it didn't look like that at first. I didn't even have grass, but in the end I ended up adding some to a terrain and it made a huge difference, and so did adding fire campfire.
the last few images you will see a change in what my assets used to look like before I made some changes to make them look better.
